Korg & Korg with SpaceFields and ClassicFX apps. The Korg MS2000 sequence is recorded as loop in the SpaceFields app. The app then plays this loop, modifying it into an ambient background with one of the factory presets. This sequence from the synth is also added to the final mix. Sound from Korg MicroX processed by ClassicFX app, make it deeper and extended. Howling and whistling sounds are made on the Korg MicroX by changing the frequency and resonance of low pass filter in the one of factory preset. Both sources was mixed and recorded live.
Besides real time signal processing, SpaceFields can also be used as a sampler on iOS or Mac with preloaded audio files. This app can be fully controlled via a MIDI controller with triggering sample playback.

This update adds four new effect modules and expands the capabilities of the existing one. VintageRack now contains 19 high quality effects, each with its own unique sound character. All modules are clear and do not contain anything superfluous. You can easily create your own effect chains that will decorate, add space and atmosphere to the sound of any instrument or voice with this app right out of the box by simply selecting modules and listening to how they change the sound.
What's new:
Added spring reverb with the most interesting springs and tube preamp with two band EQ.
Added module realistically simulates three classic Wah stompboxes controlled by an envelope or LFO.
Added module that simulates two vintage exciters with harmonic bass enhancer.
Added module with options for classic formant filter, ring modulator with formant carrier tone and formant voice synth controlled by pitch detector.
The Fuzz module has got a new option of the well-known distortion device.
An existing module called AutoWah renamed to AutoFilter. The new module was named AutoWah (presets will not be lost).
Also made some improvements and fixed a few minor bugs.
App description has been updated. The description is also available as PDF file.

If you want to learn about vintage studio effects units then the Vintage FX book of meticulously researched and beautifully photographed classic units should be on your wish list!
There are endless glossy coffee table books about vintage guitars and amps. Likewise, if you want to know about analogue synths, valve mics or classic consoles, there’s plenty of information out there. However, other gear that was plentiful in the past now attracts less attention. That’s hardly surprising in the case of tape synchronisers or MIDI file players, but strange when it comes to studio effects units of the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. We all know about the EMT 140 plate and the Eventide H3000, but who among us has ever heard of the Sequential Circuits Pro FX, the Cyclosonic FS1 or the gloriously named Publison Fullmost Relief Enlarger?

Workflow: I LOVE SpaceFields and I love what came out of this session. Here's a brief description of the procedure.
I made some drums using an unreleased app I cannot yet mention, added some kick drum using Bleass Sidekick and put the whole thing through an instance of SpaceFields, still keeping in some dry signal, with reverb turned down but modulating pitch etc to create something more complex and trippy.
I used the open beta of Radio Audio Unit - found some kind of Jamaican spoken word station and sampled some of this into another instance of SpaceFields. With reverb and totally wet, to get max trippiness. I played a bit of VTines (beautiful modeled Rhodes) into another SpaceFields. Everything except the drums went through BitJuggler for bitcrushing. I used Rum by Klevgrand on everything but the drums. FAC Medusa was used for on the fly compression and saturation of lows and highs.

A series of very detailed tutorials on the VintageRack application from the channel "SoundForMore Tutorials". Will be updated as new episodes are released.
VintageRack is a minimalistic and convenient multi-effect application that contains modules realistically simulating notable retro gear from the early digital age with their natural lo-fi and warm aesthetics. VintageRack is a minimalistic and convenient multi-effect application that contains modules realistically modeling notable retro gear from the early digital era with their inherent aesthetics and atmosphere.
Most of the effects in this application have been inspired and based on the principles of actual hardware from the 70s and 80s, which is great for giving the sound of any instrument the nostalgic and emotional mood of old recordings.
This application has a clean and intuitive user interface with a well-considered structure. All controls are located on the main screen, which is divided into seven slots for processing (effect) modules. The first slot contains the module for controlling the input, the last one is for controlling the output. Each of the five slots in between are designed to use one of the effect modules. The input signal passes from the first to the last slot and is then sent to the output.
Each slot has a Master Fader that controls the presence of the effect, and a Mute button that smoothly turns the effect on and off. These controls are available to be assigned to a MIDI controller, or to use as audio unit parameters regardless of the type of module in the slot. Also in each slot, there is a Parameters button that opens a panel of additional parameters for each module. Additional parameters of modules are kept to a minimum and represent the most suitable use cases.
The key idea behind application control is to first adjust the parameters of modules, and then use only the Master Fader to change the presence or depth of the effect and the Mute button to turn it on and off. Everything is geared towards fast and easy use.
Another great feature of VintageRack is the ability to set a lower bit depth of processed signal, typical for early digital devices, both for the entire path and for individual modules. As with these devices, this application simulates pre- and post-processing of the analog signal both before and after the digital circuits with the addition of companders, emphasis and filters, which makes the sound similar to the real devices.
Effect modules:
Analog modeled compressor.
Three band equalizer typical for mixing consoles.
Classic and reverse delays with modulation feature.
Two Chorus modules are precise emulations of known devices.
Two modules of Flanger with different options and tones.
Two modules of Phaser with various sound character.
Filter module controlled by LFO or envelope generator.
Faithful emulation of classic Wah effects with added automation.
Combined effect of Tremolo and Vibrato with separate rate.
Ring modulator with additional modulation of carrier.
Three types of Fuzz with modulated filters.
Emulation of one of the early digital reverbs.
Vintage exciter with bass enhancer.
Spring reverb with tube preamp.
Advanced formant filter with voice synth mode.
Input slot contains Noise gate and Automatic gain control.
Output slot contains tape-style saturation and three types of tonestacks.

One of the big advantages of the new Macs with Apple Silicon M1 and M2 chips is that you can finally run iPad and iPhone apps on your Mac without the need for any emulation software.
This possibility is especially interesting for iOS music and audio processing apps that can work as an Audio unit (AUv3) and are adapted for use with macOS.
But once again, the iOS audio apps must comply with the AUv3 standard and be adapted to work with macOS. In the App Store, the descriptions for each app have labels to tell you what platform the app was designed for. Many apps will also have a label that says, “Not verified for macOS,” which means you may encounter performance or interface issues while using it.
From these articles you can learn how to run iOS apps on Mac. Note that you do not need any third-party soft to run iOS apps adapted and verified for macOS on Macs M1 (and later).
There is also an interesting article for fans of Ableton Live - "Why iPad Music App Support in Ableton Live is so Awesome". Here you can replace Ableton on any other DAW that supports AUv3 plugins. For example GarageBand or Logic Pro.
Another interesting option to use iOS audio apps on Mac standalone, even without AUv3, is routing audio between them. For this, you will need a third-party software on Mac that provides audio routing. There are several free and paid virtual audio routing apps for macOS.
This article lists popular options and gives an example of using such apps with Ableton Live.
